2011 General Tournament Rules
All players participating in any of the tournaments that count towards
The Year End Game point total must have a current HVGC Tournament
Handicap or have played at least 6 USGA rounds in 2011. A player that
does not have either a current HVGC Tournament Handicap or has not
played at least 6 USGA rounds in 2011 will be assigned a handicap of
net par for the first two tournaments in which individual scores are
included in the computation of the HVGC Tournament Handicap. If after
being assigned a handicap of net par for two tournaments a player has
not played a total of 6 USGA rounds in 2011, a handicap will be
assigned to the player by the handicap committee until such time that
the player has played a total of 6 USGA rounds.
All players participating in any of the tournaments that do not
count towards The Year End Game point total that do not have a current
GHIN handicap will be assigned a handicap of net par.
USGA rules will govern play in all tournaments except for the following exceptions:
1. The ball will be played down unless course
conditions or tournament format dictate otherwise (decisions regarding
whether or not to play the ball down will be made by the tournament
committee).
2. A ball coming to rest on the green of another hole
or a flowerbed must be dropped at the nearest point of relief, No
Penalty.
3. A detailed description of creeks, obstructions,
hazards and out of bounds markings are available in the Pro Shop.
4. Should a dispute arise over the interpretation of
any golf rule, please play two balls. A member of the Golf Professional
staff will render a decision regarding the disputed rule. All decisions
will be considered final.
5. All sudden death playoffs will begin on Hole #1.
If a playback hole is to be used, the number of the hole will be
determined by blind draw.
6. In case of inclement weather, the Tournament
Committee reserves the right to delay, reschedule or cancel the event
and will make decisions about any refunds to be given. If the
tournament is in process and a decision is made, a represenative will
inform all golfers of the committee’s decision.
The following is the “Pace of Play Policy” that will be in effect:
It is the responsibility of each player in the group to keep up with
the group in front of them. The time that each group starts, completes
the front nine and completes the back nine will be recorded by the pro,
a member of his staff or the starter. Based on the length of time the
group takes to complete the front nine, coupled with its position
relative to the group in front of them, will determine whether a group
will receive a warning from the pro at the turn. A group receiving a
warning at the turn that does not improve its pace of play by the time
that it completes the back nine then each team playing in that group
will add two strokes to their team’s total score. The parameters
for the pace of play for each tournament will be based on the format of
that tournament. The starter will provide each group the parameters for
the pace of play for each tournament prior to that group beginning
play.
The tournament committee will make all decisions regarding eligibility, disqualifications, etc.
Tournaments will NOT
be made up if the original date and the rain date of the tournament are
rained out. In the event of a rain out, your entry fee will be
refunded.
Tournament payoffs will be as follows: 30% of the field for men and 35% of the field for women.
